Diwali vaccine appeal targets winter infections

South Yorkshire’s NHS shared a UKHSA appeal encouraging eligible people celebrating Diwali to obtain flu, COVID-19 and RSV vaccinations before winter gatherings. It highlights protection for vulnerable adults and children.

Issued by NHS South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board, South Yorkshire ·

The appeal notes that vaccines need time to provide their strongest protection and that indoor gatherings can increase opportunities for respiratory infections to spread. Parents are encouraged to complete school flu consent forms and arrange vaccination for eligible preschool children. An injected alternative can be requested where the nasal spray is unsuitable for medical or faith reasons. The notice directs people to GP practices, pharmacies and NHS booking services to check eligibility. It is general public-health advice, not an assessment of an individual’s medical needs.
