The government announced a Cyber Essentials First Step Fund for eligible UK businesses that have not been certified in the previous four years. The stated price after the 75% discount is between £80 and £125, plus VAT.
The £2.4 million fund is available on a first-come, first-served basis until March 2027 or until funding is exhausted. A separate suppliers grant provides fully funded first-time certification for eligible SMEs nominated by Cyber Resilience Pledge signatories, with tailored advisor support for selected businesses.
The announcement also names a new cohort of Software Security Ambassadors, including Thales, Capgemini and SANS, to encourage adoption of the Software Security Code of Practice. Application conditions are set out in the original release.
